Job Description

The Data Center Technician Intern at Microsoft handles physical infrastructure which supports worldwide cloud platforms and their associated services. The role provides practical experience through hardware system management and troubleshooting activities which support datacenter operations and deliver dependable cloud services.

Main Duties

  • Assistance for both deployment work and maintenance tasks which are needed to support datacenter physical infrastructure systems. 
  • Implement their installation work while they perform efficient troubleshooting tasks and complete cable server and hardware component replacement work. 
  • Data storage devices which include hard drives and storage equipment with extreme care. 
  • Work within ticket based systems resolving infrastructure and operational issues promptly.
  • Assist inventory management teams during high workload periods and operations support.

Essential Qualifications

  • Applicants to have completed high school or obtained an equivalent educational credential which includes fundamental technical skills. 
  • Requires candidates to be at least eighteen years old to qualify for internship positions. 
  • Students demonstrate knowledge of basic computer hardware components and infrastructure systems operational functions. 
  • Interest in managing IT equipment while working in data center technology environments. 
  • Must pass both Microsoft security screening and background verification processes to fulfill this requirement. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications like CompTIA A+ or Network+ or Server+ considered advantageous qualifications.
  • Demonstrate their ability to complete physical work which involves lifting and standing and performing tasks at different heights.
  • Strong communication skills which enable them to work with various stakeholders from different countries.
  • Demonstrate English proficiency through both writing and speaking skills for successful coordination and reporting tasks.
  • Commitment to learning new technologies and acquiring advanced technical skills through continuous development.
