Job Description

DataCamp is recruiting for the job of Principal AI Engineer – AI Creator, where the role entails building intelligent AI models that provide adaptive learning on-the-go. The job involves building AI tutoring models, prompt architecture design, agentic workflows, and improvements to model behavior through experiments and evaluations. As a Principal AI Engineer – AI Creator, the candidate will be required to build scalable software, integrate AI functionalities into the platform systems and content pipeline, and experiment with new model interactions based on current AI research

Responsibilities

  • Develop the core of AI tutoring through prompt structure, workflow design, and adaptive behaviors in real time.
  • Develop evaluation criteria and metrics to measure effectiveness, robustness, and AI performance.
  • Create technology solutions to incorporate AI into the technology stack, content workflows, and end-user experience.
  • Work with educators, content partners, and product development teams to translate educational goals into technical specifications.
  • Prototype new interactions, deploy safety and monitoring measures, and share knowledge to grow the team.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience working on big projects related to the use of LLMs, prompt engineering, and awareness of agent workflow.
  • Skills in considering how to evaluate AI systems via custom metrics and methods.
  • Experience in software engineering, architectures, Python, production, clouds, and CI/CD.
  • Interest in following up on new advances in AI and using them in practice.
  • Good communication and team player qualities, as well as a desire to learn about products for learners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Awareness of advanced uses of large language models, agents, and adaptive behaviors of AI.
  • Ability to develop custom methods for measuring the performance of AI systems where standard methods fall short.
  • Awareness of cloud computing, CI/CD, production systems, and systems design.
  • Experience in learning sciences or ed tech, or using the product features to meet the instructional goals.
  • Mentoring skills to help others on the team understand complex concepts.
