Job Description

SAP is hiring a (Senior) Development Manager to lead engineering teams developing AI-enabled products, platforms, scalable services, and enterprise solutions. The position focuses on software engineering, generative AI, delivery management, architecture and team leadership. The role also involves developing roadmaps for development, adoption of responsible AI, ensuring high-quality execution, and delivery of customer-centric technological solutions in the UAE region.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership of engineering teams that build scalable AI products and platforms.
  • Design and oversee scalable software architectures supporting enterprise applications and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Coordinate cross-functional engineering efforts across backend, frontend, data engineering, machine learning, and platform teams.
  • Creation of engineering key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, and delivery process.
  • Building high-performing engineering teams through recruitment, mentoring, coaching, performance management, and talent development.

Requirements

  • 8–10+ years of experience in software engineering/architecture and/or any other relevant technical field.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of machine learning, generative AI, LLMs, and risks related to their development and implementation.
  • Have experience in managing AI/data-related projects where one is required to manage scope, technical dependencies, workforce, and deliveries.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the Agile framework, roadmap planning, estimation, sprint deliveries, release coordination, and risk management.
  • Possess understanding of cloud platforms, DevOps, CI/CD, observability, security, and production-level AI systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experiences in the management of backend engineers, frontend engineers, data engineers, machine learning engineers, and platform engineers.
  • Experiences in evaluation in technical considerations in terms of build vs. buy, technical debt, reliability, experimentation, cost, and speed of delivery.
  • Proficiency with the use of responsible AI methods like ethics, transparency, compliance, governance, security, and quality.
  • Experience with SAP products/systems in areas like enterprise technology, data, integration, cloud, or AI.
  • Proficiency in the English language is essential, whereas proficiency in Arabic is desired.
