Job Description

The hiring for Lead SOC Engineer (DevOps) is for a specialised technology position responsible for managing and optimising large-scale platform and data operations within the Security Operations Center in G42. The position requires big data, cloud technology, and DevOps tools, as well as data processing, infrastructure management, deployment, monitoring, ETL/ELT, troubleshooting, and optimisation. Strong expertise in data security, distributed computing, containerisation, scripting, cloud infrastructure, SOC operations, cybersecurity, and technical leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and enhancing the processing of large datasets and Big Data technologies in the Security Operations Centre domain.
  • Focusing on script-based and DevOps approaches for deployment, configuration, management, and operational automation.
  • Working with ETL/ELT processes, data standardisation, and ways of ensuring data integrity.
  • Managing system performance, problem solving, and other operational activities in Security Operations Centres.
  • Participating in architecture discussions, platform engineering, and data processing improvement on cloud platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or any other related technical degree.
  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience in big data and platform engineering in cybersecurity or any equivalent technology.
  • Awareness of cloud technologies, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, operating systems; and APIs.
  • Experience working with tools such as Kafka, ELK, CRIBL, Hadoop, Cloudera, Data Lakes, Docker, and Kubernetes by means of Big Data Technologies.
  • Programming languages such as Python and Bash and SQL, NoSQL, data management, data encryption, and data security.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical expertise about how to handle the tools such as Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps Pipeline, Ansible, Terraform, and GitOps in DevOps Automation.
  • Technical expertise about how to handle the tools such as Argo CD, Flux CD, Kubernetes, microservices architecture, containers, and distributed computing environments.
  • Technical skills relating to the manipulation, normalization, encryption, quality assurance, and management of databases in relation to data security.
  • Professional certification in cloud technologies like AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
  • High level of proficiency in stakeholder management, communication, problem solving, capacity planning, and team building within the field of SOC operations.
