Job Description

The job of a core network maintenance engineer entails maintenance of fixed infrastructure of a transport network and ensuring proper working of networks. This position includes network maintenance of DWDM, IP-Core, OTN, and GPON network elements in the form of servicing, testing, and troubleshooting. Fault rectification, dealing with issues reported by the NOC, fault detection in the network, and restoring the affected network services are other responsibilities of this position. Maintenance of network data, usage of testing equipment, and participation in emergency as well as shift work are also part of the duties of the position.

Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronic engineering, computer science, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform network maintenance and fault rectification of network elements for DWDM, IP-Core, OTN, and GPON networks.
  • Carry out tests using testing instruments and follow up on fault rectification processes as recommended.
  • Respond to Network Operation Center-reported faults, troubleshoot network problems, and escalate major faults where necessary.
  • Utilize craft terminals and network testing equipment to localize faults and keep updated network information.
  • Participate in network monitoring and network performance optimization processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or Related Fields.
  • Newly graduated with theoretical knowledge about telecommunication network maintenance and operations.
  • Good understanding of the principles of core networks, IP Core, fixed transport, and GPON technologies.
  • Experience in working with the maintenance of telecommunication networks and its tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work on shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge about transport networks, IP switching, GPON, and mobile networks.
  • Experience with network management software, documentation software, and testing devices.
  • Awareness of incident response processes, network monitoring, and network maintenance.
  • Driving license valid for traveling within the designated area of work.
  • Working effectively in an operational environment while meeting network service standards.
